A: LED stands for Light Emitting Diode. In simple terms it is a computer light. A dye/diode, driver, electrical circuit board, heat sink, socket and reflector are manufactured and combined to create an energy efficient / eco friendly light bulb.
A: LED lighting is up to 90% more energy efficient than standard incandescent lamps.
A: In most of your fixtures all you have to do is remove old lamp and replace with new lamp. If you have a transformer (low-voltage) or ballasted fixture then consult a professional for proper installation.
A: False. LED technology over the last decade has been overwhelming and therefore decreasing the cost of LED lamps. Depending on the lamp it will cost you 2 to 3 times more up front. However the decrease in utilities (up to 90% more energy efficient, no heat or UV Rays, and replacement costs (up to 100,000 hrs) will save you more money in the short and long term than any other lamp on the market.
A: No, there is a difference in quality of products and materials just like any other product. It is important that you have the right Color Rendering index (CRI) and brightness (wattage). Also, ensure you are using a trusted company that warranties its product and stands behind that guarantee.
A: Most of your lighting stores and show rooms will have a variety of LED lighting. You can find a limited amount in your local grocery and hardware stores. You can buy over the internet at eliteglobalillumination.com.
A: Do a lamp count in your home or office and write down the existing type of lamp and we will recommend the correct LED lamp.
A: Currently LED’s are not for all lighting situations. High Intensity Discharge (HID) or very bright applications will probably not be a good substitute. The technology is rapidly improving and testing is already being done for these types of applications, ex. roadways, gyms, stadiums, etc.
A: LED’s do not work with standard dimmers. Manufacturers are currently testing LED dimmers.
A: Yes, there are outdoor-rated lamps. Make sure you choose the right lamp for indoor or outdoors.
A: LED lighting is instantaneous and turns on immediately.
